Bonnie Thomas

Sunset on May 1st, 2008

Bonnie Thomas was always available to give a helping hand to anybody, Deaf, Late Deafened, Hard of Hearing, or Hearing. Since becoming involved with the Northwest Jersey Association of the Deaf in 1990 and finding her identity as a Deaf person, she adopted the Deaf community as her family. Giving aid to individuals or organizations, no matter how big or small the problems were, gave her great satisfaction.

Bonnie often worked behind the scenes and was not always given the credit for her services. This short eulogy will not name all the individuals and organizations she served because there are too many to do her justice.

For example, one of the biggest projects Bonnie was involved with was doing the most work to arrange and set up Kiddie Korner at New Jersey’s biggest Deaf community event known as Deaf Fest. Without her hard work, Kiddie Korner wouldn’t have been possible, but not many are aware of that. Even as her health declined and she was barely able to take care of herself, she continually insisted she wanted to be involved in projects serving the Deaf community.

Whatever your religion or beliefs, remember and share Bonnie’s good deeds so that she will forever live in the memory of the Deaf community. We Will All Miss Her.
